Senior Spaces NW was founded by Heidi Owens and Randi Carter, two professionals whose careers and personal experiences have always centered on caring for people.
Heidi had a long career in skincare/biotech and her journey into senior placement began during a difficult and deeply personal time. After her father suffered a stroke, her family was suddenly faced with finding the right care and quickly. What followed was a frustrating experience with national call centers that felt impersonal and overwhelming with relentless sales calls and emails. Relief finally came when they connected with a local senior advisor who truly listened and helped them find a wonderful home for her dad. That experience stayed with Heidi and inspired her to become the kind of empathetic, hands-on partner she wished her family had from the start.
Randi’s connection to senior living began early in her career as a dietary coordinator at Covenant Shores on Mercer Island, where she discovered how much she loved working directly with older adults. She later founded a meal-delivery business, providing nourishing meals to seniors and families throughout Seattle.
Years later, Randi and Heidi met while working for a local remodeling company that frequently helped older adults make their homes safer and more comfortable. Together, they saw how often seniors and families were trying to answer the same important question: Is it best to remain at home with the right modifications, or is it time to explore senior living?
That shared experience inspired Senior Spaces NW. Today, Randi and Heidi help families thoughtfully explore their options and find the path that best supports each senior’s safety, independence, lifestyle, and sense of home.
